A two day sensitisation and access audit training workshop was conducted by Designbridge Foundation, on 23 rd and 24 th June, 2016, for 36 Engineers from the CPWD, Pune Circle. The main objective of the workshop was to sensitise the CPWD engineers about need of providing accessibility measures while planning for and constructing buildings under the purview of CPWD. The participants included personnel from Pune – Akurdi, Nasik, Aurangabad, Nanded, which are areas under Pune Circle.
The workshop included many modules such as Accessible India Campaign, Universal Design, Simulation exercises, Access Audit of buildings under CPWD, most notable among them being Nirmaan Bhavan, Mukundnagar, Pune which is the Headquarter of CPWD , Pune, and access audit report preparation.
The two day workshop ended on a very positive note, with a target set by CPWD to make three buildings under CPWD accessible till July end by implementing the retrofitting measures recommended in the access audit reports.
